Can anyone help. I have a 2005 F150 xlt. Can someone tell me how to get the top off of the fabric wrapped center console cover so I can have it wrapped in leather. I would love to attempt this myself, but I don't want to damage the part.
I think this site provides a wealth of knowledge to the person seeking advice on their Ford vehicle. I have been reviewing posts for months now and just recently posted a question for help from the members. It is amazing that no members post to "NEW USERS". I am posting seeking advice, or help, from the knowledgable "SENIOR USERS.
". My opinion of this site is fading fast. However, before someone says it, I do know what people say about opinions.
I can only assume the following:
1. Nobody responded b/c nobody is really sure how to answer your question. The materials I have access to don't have detailed info on removing the center console lid.
2. I assume there is a spring hinge in there that probably has several screws holding it down.
3. The last sentence of your last post is correct.
you have 5 different posts since joining this site. Each and every single one has something to do with that stupid console. People are not ignoring you because it says new user. They aren't answering because they don't know the answer.
As of this time, you have had 106 views from forum members. Please refrain from jumping to conclusions.
I don't know how to get it off. Best of luck in that endeavor.
Bridge, I was curious, where do drawings similar to what you posted come from ? Are they available online, either free or for a fee ? Or do you have access to them as a tech or Ford employee ? They look like something that would be handy to have for either a problem or reference. Thanks
The custom shop I have frequented a few times has a woofer speaker deal that goes into a stock console. They must know how to get it off, so I would assume it is possible. Check with a stereo installer, they might know. Other than that, I know a hammer and a crowbar would get you started. Also a cutting torch just in case that doesnt work.
Are you talking about the center console/arm rest between the bucket seats? I was able to remove mine with a torx bit. I think there were 4 screws holding the hinge to the bottom of the assembly.

consider maybe no one knows the answer to your problem/expectations. i have many of those and one burning one right now. patience is key to getting answers. doors open much wider with open minds.
I know this thread is old. But after doing a quick search of the forums, I did not find the answer to the original question posted by Hunter179...
The below is how I removed my center console on an 05 150 lariat...
-Removed the front seats
-Remove the 2 srews on the rear/side lower portion the the console
-Remove 4 screws from inside console, under mat
-Remove front L/R trim panel (clips hold it on, pry rear edge off first then pull out AND to the rear)
-Remove 2 screws from under L/R trim panel
-Remove shift trim panel (clips hold it on, small screwdriver in the rear edge and it comes right off)
-Remove 4 screws under trim panel and lift plastic tab up/over molded nub
-Spread and lift center console up and out, don't forget about disconnecting rear power-port...
