header head aches

does any one know if you can run the driverside exhaust pipe over top of the x-member? i bolted on a new set of hedman headers on my 78 bronco w/ a 351 m, and looks as if i have to run the pipe undr the x-member. mi realy dont want to do it that way, because the truck will be going of road and i dont want to take a chance of smashing it or getting it caught on somthing. if any one knows a way, or knows of different headers to run, please let me know. thanks.

You are talking about full length headers right? I ordered a set of Hooker full length headers from Summit for my 89 bronco w/302 and befor i bolted them up i measured them to get an idea of where they were going go. And it looked like they were going to be about 6" from the transfer case cross member. It seems it would be a very tight bend to go up and over, and like you said, not only would it look like hell to go under, it would also hinder clearence. I ended up sending back the full lengths and ordered shorties. This way all the bends will be much cleaner and you will have more room too. I am running a 3" single system, but if you get the shorties and want to run duals, have them bend the driver side pipe under the motor and run it along side the passanger side pipe. That way you dont have to bother routing the pipe around the T-case. Good luck...
