the weather is warming up and it is time to install my new 3.0 motor.. ... i live in WA State and i really don`t need AIR.... wile pulling the motor i was cussing out the AC unit.. it takes up toooo much room!! i wold rather roll down the window then have the engine compartment cluderd with AC plumbing and things i dont need .... .................... now to my questions?? ............... can i remove the AC unit/plunbing/hoses/sencers and wiring without interfearing with the operation of my heater???. i want it gone!!! ....... also.. is it possible to just buy a smaller belt?? will i need to add a pully in place of the AC unit???
I think you can remove everything up to the air box. You can be thorough and remove the evaporator core from the air box, and seal up its holes.
Does the belt that drives the compressor drive anything else? I don't have a 3.0 engine so I don't know. If it uses a single serpentine belt, you will need a shorter belt, but you may also have to figure out a new routing pattern with the AC pulley removed.
The 3.0 Aero was available Without A/C so when you go to pick up a new belt simply tell them Without A/C.
There are bypass pulleys that bolt on where the compressor used to go however since you can easily obtain a Without A/C belt it seems rather pointless.
