After a slight lift, about 1.5 inch (4 cm), my X comes up with vibrations that become noticeable at about 27- 30 mph and then again when this is doubled. Rear shaft splines and knuckles are checked and cleared. Any suggestions??
Wedges to reduce increased axle/shaft angle?
That is a good point Monsta. He should definately check that out before he has a bigger issue while moving along at 55mph or in the woods. It is embarrasing to get towed out by another vehicle especially if it is a chevy
Thanks for commenting - yup I'm sure they went in the right way. The shop will send me two sets of extra blocks with different angles to adjust the axle angle. I'm am waiting for some other gadgets which they will replace at the same time (local partner of them). They have done the same mod many times, and they are serious about correcting the problem which they've never experienced on a V-10. (I think the the rear shaft an knuckles config is different on a diesel)...
If you would'nt mind, could you get me the contact info for this company. I'm looking to lift my 03 about that much. I need to find that sweet spot so I will still fit in the garage.
FYI - problem fixed! Wedge blocks 'reset' the increased shaft/axle angle introduced by lift. It also turned out also turned out I needed a longer center positioning bolt to 'pin in' the wedge blocks. Added another 1/2 inch rear height, though. Doesn't really show. Goodbye vibes, me happy !
