Hi Guys, I had a question and may just end up making an idiot of myself.
I have a 1990 F-250 5 speed manual, 7.3L, 4.10 and when I take off in second it usually wants to chatter or do some short jerking with me. Is this normal? Should I only be taking off in 1st?
Do your starts in first....is advised, the ZF 5 is a 4 speed with overdive trans. So best to not force the dual mass flywheel to much. there could be other problems with the DM also.... Do you have serious rattling on start or shutdown.......
One of the guys here asked me was your wife in the cab when chattering occurred..
Thanks, I figured that would be the best solution. Guess I just be getting off the line a bit slower. It does rattle a little bit on shut down. What does this indicate?
Yes, she's in the cab a lot when it happens.....never thought of that.....
It may........what did the inner impeller look like on the old one... Have you ever done a fan test.......it could be locking up too soon or not releasing soon enough which would cause extra cooling.
dose the truck have an aftermarket dual friction clutch?if so it will chatter at rpm to low for that gear,to low an rpm at take off, missaliment of the clutch.are a few comon ones.the dual friction clutch set up is so big they do make a little more noise at take off and shut down.ever hear a big rig when they shut down you hear a big clang.thats that masive clutch comeing to a stop.a dual friction in your truck will do the samething.you should hear mine not only did I instal a stage 3 dual friction I also went from the stock 11in clutch diamiter to a 12in diamiter clutch. Center Force babey I love um
