Alright I want to do a complete brake job on my 94 4x4 bronco with manual locking hubs. What parts do I need? Whats the best place to get them pepboys or napa or AID auto or autozone.. I want to replace the rotor and bearings and seals and pads. What company pad and rotor do you guys perfer also. Please get back to me because I'm looking to do this tomorrow.
Don't get them at a local parts store. They generally overcharge you for inferior parts. I would buy online from one of the sponsors like rockauto.com.
You'll need:
Left and right rotor assembly. I would recommend against buying just the rotor by itself. You will spend lots of extra time separating the old one and putting the new one back together. Then you'll have to get it turned, but you'll have to do that anyway.
Get Timken bearings. The seal brand doesn't matter much. You'll also want to at least have on hand the rubber insert caliper pins in case yours are in bad shape. I've seen them wear out in strange ways. I would also get a good set of pads. Stay away from bear claw or any of the other garbage that autozone sells. You'll regret it.
Are you doing the calipers too? What about the rears?
You'll need wheel bearing grease, too, or you can have the brake shop that turns your rotors pack them for you.
They can be warped from shipment , installing lugs , or that little drop the guy behind counter did before you walked in. Just reassemble hub rotor. and take to local mom pop garage . I've live all over and they check like 5-10 bucks to true them up . Just tell them take only what needed. Some places I swear only have to settings to much and way to much
