Anyone have any of these 3 performance modules installed in their 2.9L Ranger/Bronco II? Any idea how much horse power and torque each adds, and also how driveability changed?
I don't have either of the 3, but I can tell you I and alot of other people have had bad experiences with jet. I would trust hypertech and James Duff over jet anytime. Jet cost me a 500.00$ computer in my 99 F-150, cause they sent me the wrong chip and then left me hanging. Jusy my .02.
I have none of them, but I am currently using a Jet programmer in a 2000 Silverado without any sort of problems. Granted, that's not a chip, but I've had no issues with their product or their customer support. Go with whatever one nets you the most gains for the amount of money that you are willing to spend. All three are reputable brands with a following, all are major companies, not some off the wall no-name place.
I would lean toward hypertech or duff, jet admitted to sending me the wrong chip, but wouldn't pay for the computer that thier chip whipped out, however they sent me the correct chip after the fact. Jet uses generic tunes where one size fits all, one guy's truck will run like a scalded dog, while another guy's truck shows nothing. Jet doesn't get favorable reveiws on the jeep forums I belong to either. Setting personal feelings aside, I would investigate the duff chip closely, because they specialize in fords, the bronco's and ranger. There's where you will get the best tune from people with hands on experience. We get our programers from bama, Doug specializes in fords as well and he developes tunes specific to your computer and mods and he works wonders, but he only does programers for the ford OBD II computers. Like wise, James Duff is a ford guru and I believe he would be the one that could squeeze the most power from a ford, since ford is he's bread and butter and the ranger, bronco specifically, that should be your chip.
