Is there any certain use for, or has anyone used, the 12MM bolt next to the fill plug on the manual M5OD tranny? I was checking my tranny fluid for a long distance trip tommorow and removed it just cause I was curious as to what it was. Threaded in much further than the fill bolt, it has a rounded smooth 3/8" long tip. Just wondered if it had a purpose, or if it could be used for something (tranny temp perhaps?).
I don't believe so, there was nothing stuck to it at all I don't believe, I will remove it when I get home later this morning and see if I can rub anything off of it.
I kind of thought that was the one you were talking about. I don't remember anything being connected to it when I yanked the trans to replace it with the purrrrdy one in the pic. I would have to imagine it was cast into the case to help with internal assembly some how. Ahhh what do I know, at least I had the cool pic. Maybe someone else knows for sure.
