Hello, I Have A '61 F100, 223, With A Three Speed Column Shift. I'm In Need Of The Speedometer Drive Gear, The Plastic Worm Gear That Fits Over The Tailshaft. I'm Not Sure What Year The Tranny Is. It Has A Synchromesh First Gear, And I Have These Numbers Off The Housing. On The Right Side Tailshaft Housing: C3tr-7a040, And On The Left Side Gearbox Housing: C3ah7006. I Appreciate Any Info. Regarding Year, And Drive Gear Source. Thanks, John

Transmission numbers won't help, as the speedo drive gear is figured by rear end ratio. On your Rating (VIN) Plate is the axle code. Post the code, the gear will soon be known.
Since you have a sincro 1st, I believe the tranny has been replaced. Bill should be able to confirm.
You will need to go under the truck and actually pull the cable. You will need to take a 3/8 wrench with you. Once pulled hold it vertically and take notice if the top of the threads lean left or right. Manual gears lean left or left twist, if my memory is working. Then count the number of teeth on the gear.
I have seen some sites that had calculators for figuring the number out if you don't have the gear.
Transmission has been updated to the Ford 3.03. Regardless, the rear end ratio is still needed to figure the drive gear, which OP needs, not the driven gear. The driven gear is a piece of cake..just count the teeth. It'll be normal rotation: ///.
OP: Post the axle code from the VIN plate.
There's three different drive gears listed.

Hello Again, Thanks To Everyone Who Responded To My Query. The Vin Code For The Axle Is 12, If Someone Knows What The Rear End Ratio Would Be. Is It True That The Ratio Is The Number Of Revolutions Of The Driveshaft, To One Revolution Of The Rear Wheel? I Had Jacked The Rear End, And Turned The Drive Shaft By Hand. It Only Turned 1 And 3/4 Revolutions To One Rev. Of The Drive Wheel. If This Is Wrong, Please Advise. Thanks, John
