93 Ranger Starter Problem
I just bought me a 93 2.3L 4cyl std. 2wd Ranger today. It started up fine when I brought it to my house. I went to start it up after supper, and when I turn the key to start it, there was no clicking nothing from the starter. The lights and radio came on and everything, but the truck would not start. But if I put the key in the run position and then touch a screwdriver on the solenoid on the ds firewall, it'll start right up. Whats causing this?

Well from that description you may have something going on in the ignition switch. Did you only try using the key once? Or repeatedly w/o any luck? Was there a loud thunk when you hit it? A light tick? or no noise at all? If its a stick make sure the clutch is to the floor, there's a starter kill switch in the clutch assembly.

Thanks for the replys guys, after replacing the solenoid on the fenderwell and it still wouldn't work, I checked the starter kill switch on the clutch. Sure enough, it had fallen off the shaft. I should have looked at that before I bought the new solenoid.
