Brake controller problem
I'd bet a dime to a dollar the connections at the seven way have gotten crusty - or the grounds have gotten rusted.
You need to do a voltage check (see the pinout diagram for seven ways posted here).
For the ground, go to the ground pin on the seven way, and check to a good ground on the truck.
NEXT check for the same ground to the trailer frame.
Go from the ground in the trailer connector to it's frame.
THEN -
Plug it in, and check for continuity from the truck frame, to the trailer.
This will verify your grounding.
If it works, take a hard look for any corrosion in the seven way itself.
Cleaning the connectors and coating them with vaseline (petroleum jelly) will go miles, buddy...
The brake signal to ground should read anywhere from six to twelve volts.
A Prodigy on some settings will slam twelve. The average is six or so...
REESE controllers (Brakeman Compact, and Brakeman Pro (digital readout)) although basic brake controllers - have a very low failure rate, as observed at two dealerships so far.
REESE seems to build really solid reliable stuff!
