And the import guys usually dont have a lot of room for discounts like the USA makes. At least that was how it was when I worked for Nissan many moons ago.
They held value longer, but you paid for that value up front very often.
The "average joe" can't afford a ford kr either. Just like ford, Toyota's msrp starts low with the 6 cylinder 2wd work truck and goes all the way up to the top of the line 4wd crew cab limited.
yeah, it's really no difference...a fully loaded out KR i bet is close to 50K....the average joe can't afford that either....me personally i think they are UGLY...especially with the long bed....nasty.....i think the next few years are going to be interesting in the 1/2 ton truck market....especially when ford comes out with the DIESEL option and a 6 speed auto....
my fealing on the whole thing is that the 1/2 ton truck market is gettign out of hand....after all it is a 1/2 ton truck and now were equiping them like 3/4 ton trucks....
after all if you have that much townig to do on a regular basis i'd suggest getting the 3/4 ton...
just seams like they are blending the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton trucks to much....might hurt sales of one or the other in the end...
I waited till the 07 was out and then bought my fully loaded 06 King Ranch Brand New for just under 36k. I cant believe anyone would spend 45+ for the Tundra. Is it that much better? I think its ugly as hell.
It was the last one on the lot, they had good incentives and an additional 1000 off if I financed some of it through Ford Credit for at least 3 months. I thought it was a good deal.
way to put a nice input to the thread. How are they P.O.S? They have done everything that us truck owners have asked for in a truck. Powerful engine, towing capability, good gas mileage, and its priced competitively. Toyota does one thing and that is build reliable vehicles. I bet Toyota owners wont be dealing with bed shudder problems, spongy front brake problems, tire shudder problems, spark plug breakage,....the list goes on...Oh, BTW, just like how Ford is trying to bring Diesel into the 1/2 ton market, Toyota has the HINO and they are rumours about them putting that into their 1/2 tons in the near future...D
I'm interested to see what kind of teething problems they are going to have with this completely new model. While it is impressive on paper, the look leaves something to be desired IMO.

it's still ugly as hell...and i bet you that the NEW toyota truck has it's quarks just like everything else...my buddy has a toyota and he's non stop complaining about the bed shaking all over the place on a bumpy road...and he also says and he's a LOYAL TOYOTA owner for years now that he would never ever buy this truck the first coupel years....he had a tundra when they first came out and he had non stop problems with it all the time.....it just semas that toyota keeps their problems under wraps and he also told me that when he would take the truck in for service they would do recalls without ever telling him....
so, don't lecture us about problems....at least ford tells you when their is a problem and explains it to you....they fix it and never tell you.....then you think you have something better than you really do.....thats BS in my opinion and from what his toyota friends tell him thats a common practice for them....
BS, I bought a fully loaded, Lariat for 32 grand. This truck has everything. Heated seats, heated mirrors, sun roof, captian chairs, console shift, sat. radio, thumper box in the back, power rear slider. Heck The only thing I don't have is the KR, smelly leather! Heck I smell that every day, when I saddle up the horses! I darn don't want it in my $42000 truck! That I paid $32000 for!

i am in the car business and see all makes--i can assure you that toyota has problems too-just to go a toyota service dept and look around! the public has been brainwashed into thinking toyotas never break and that is just not true. no mistaking that toy is a good product but they are machines and machines break too.
this site has frequent complaints about ford service(which i agree can be very poor)but i has also had issues with toyota dealers here (in some cases have had to return 4 or 5 times to get a problem solved)
