ok in now this is a totoal newb question but dont hate on me. i need to change my tire cuz i got a flat so im lowering the spare down but i cant get it off from the wire thing. i looked in the manual but it doesnt help.i no this is a bad pic but u get the idea

i agree with wendell......... the stupid question is the one not asked. we all have to start somewhere. i remember asking my dad some really stupid questions.
Dan, while you have that puppy unwound, why not lube the cable & it's crimped connection to the holder/upper.
Reason, well thats all we have holding our spare tire in place, so if it rusts & lets go, we've just lost our spare & the tailgater following us, is gonna get the surprise of their life when that puppy drops out right in front of them!!!!! lol
But the good thing about this spare tire retainer arrangement is, that it's not so prone to rusting up so bad that you can't drop it, or if you can drop it you can't unscrew the rack retainer wing nut, the older models have.
This set up is much simpler & easier & faster to use & seems to be much less prone to corrosion problems.
As the guys have said, there is no such thing as a bad question, the wrong questions are the unasked ones imo.
