brake bleeding problems
I have a 1970 Ford F-100 and I need to bleed the front brakes, but the bleeders are completely frozen and rusted in. I tried lots of PB blaster and vice wrenching, but they do not come out. Even though this should be a simple little project, its driving me insane. Does anybody have any tips on how to get the bleeders loose? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Garrett
Put some anti-seeze lubricant on the new bleeders.
Heat the bleeder with a oxy-acetylene torch to dull red. (A propane torch will not be intense enough.) Do this fast enough to avoid heating the general area very much. The thermal movement may break the grip of the rusted joints. You should be replacing the bleeders anyway at this point, so finish the job with your vice-grips. Good luck.
unless to didn't prim a new master cyl..If Yes then just bleed at the rubber line..
Here's an old tip. A one man bleed job. But master has to be primed first and keep full. Complete system pump up pedal a few time but do not push it to the floor it it's an old master that's been on for a number of yrs, the master cyl cup could get stuck in from crap that has settled in the cyl.bore.. Just open right rear cyl first and bleed as much
as you can just by opening the nipple or line all the air & fluid we drain out if left open..Then remove cap again check fluid add if needed pump again do the left one the same way repete doing this many 2 times or you have a good pedal.. But you must have all 4 wheel brakes adjusted up this is a must before to start to bleed them.. I've been doing it this for over 30 yrs and always worked for me.. A one man job. I did all 4 wheels cyl new, replaced all rubber & hardlines front to rear. Bleed them this way and, I was on my way in a short time. my 2cents
