Driving to work today my FX4 developed what can only be referred to as a "death shake" while driving down the highway.
It stopped at a stop light, but started up again once I passed 20mph.
The dealership told me about the problems with the e-brake sticking . . . but they didn't
give me any useful information about how to fix this problem.
They only said that I'd have to put anti-sieze compund on it every few thousand miles.
Does anyone else have a better solution than this? There are only 1,125 miles on the truck, and it was built in January . . . So I'm not thrilled about the prospect of having to deal with this every 3 months.
Anyone have any advice/suggestions about how to keep this from happening every few thousand miles?
i'd say if it's under warranty, they need to fix it and fix it right...none of that every few months...i use my eBrake a lot...never sticks on me...shouldn't stick on you either...

I agree 100% . . . but I'm at a loss as to what they can/should do to fix the problem.
Any advice/suggestions on what they should do is appreciated!
Well they will fix it, they fixed mine, but if you dont use it all the time then dont use it ever, if you use it then use it every time you park your truck. Dont just use it randomly. I dont use mine ever, but for some people thats not an option because they live in really hilly country, anyway good luck.
I posted the entire service order writeup here on FTE a while back. You might want to use the search function to try and find it. In the mean time, I will do that, and see if I can find it for you.

Sorry I can't suggest a fix, but the first thing I'd do is go visit another dealer. Surely this one has little to no interest in correcting the issue. If you bought your truck there, I'd elevate this to the service manager or higher until you get a response and action.
hey,strobengh

Sorry, but why would you ask them for suggestions on how to fix. Take it back where you bought it and make them fix it right. It seams like no one on this board acknowledges they have a warranty. I no you shouldn't have to fight them to live up to your warranty, but unfortunately that is the world we live in.

Having a warranty is all well and good, but when the dealership tells you that their fix will only last for a certain amount of time, I find it prudent to look elsewhere for advice so that you can tell the dealership what they need to do.
How can you fight someone if you don't know what you're fighting for?
My question was: "is there a permanent fix." That isn't capitulation, that's preparation.

THANKS! That sounds like what they said they would do to my truck . . . but they said this fix will only last for up to a year. EDIT: (they said it would last for a maximum of one year, but could happen more often, like every few months . . .)
How long ago did you have this done to your truck, and has the problem recurred, or did it fix it?
My dealer replaced the rear rotors on my truck when i bought it. The first time i used the emergency brake after that i got the death shake. I had to apply the e-brake firmly and release it several times and then it was fine. My guess is the minimum wage brake guy at the dealership never ajusted the e-brake shoes when he replaced the rotors!!!
