Does anyone have an under hood fuel pressure gauge? Where did you get it, how did you set it up. I have seen the fuel bowl adapter and some have said they have gone to a hydraulic shop and gotten a fitting, but what happens from there? Bend some fuel line in to a gauge? What? I am getting ready to install the "Cackle Cure" from FN84 Dino Fuel Alternatives and want to set up a pressure gauge at the same time. Thanks!
Hey, Rick... I wish I had been able to set up an under hood gauge before I did mine, but I'm limited on funds right now and couldn't jsutify it, especially with a water pump around the corner for my truck and a new A/C compressor for my wife's '96 burb.
Rad1026, I live in Albuquerque and you can get the fitting from the hydrualic shop across the street from the main NAPA on 2nd. I got the correct fitting to a 1/8 NPT and a 90 and got a gauge from the surplus on central all under $10. Just take the plug to the shop and theyll set you up. I think I payed 7 dollers for the fittings and 3 dollers for the gauge 0 -100 psi.
hey, thanks SST! I'll do that. So you got the fitting and an elbow and you were just able to attach the gauge to that? you didn't have to use any fuel line or anything?
I didnt use any lines to run a gauge to the dash, I just wanted a gauge at the fuel filter so I know if I have a pump failure or one getting ready to fail. The fitting is almost the same as the one somebody mentioned earlyer. Its a male thread barel that is the same as the filter housing and the other end is female 1/8 NPT and the 90 is a street fitting one end male 1/8 NPT to female 1/8 NPT. Then I screewed on a gauge that fits in the space with rome to spare. It can be seen from the front of the truck with the hood up. Use petroleoum resitant sealnt tape or something simaler. Good luck. EASY MOD.
