Ok, my girlfriend got me a pillar pod a couple of weeks ago, and now I want to put it to use. now my question is... What gauges do I really need? I know EGT is one of them... but what about the other 2? and up to what temp do I get the EGT gauge? 12k, 24k?
Do you tow? If yes, then get a tranny temp and either water or oil temp. If you don't really pull that much, then you can loose the tranny temp and get a boost (0-30psi) gauge.

Never seen an EGT that goes to 12000 or 24000!?! 2000 or 2k is what you need. Don't exceed 1250 for any extended length of time. If you hit 12000 degrees, you've just bought a new engine.
I tow a car ocasionally. Maybe twice a month. and my bad, meant to say 1200 and 2400 .. so I should get
1. EGT
2.tranny temp
3.water temp or oil temp
right?
thanks for your quick reply

If you plan on modding the engine, ie tuner chip etc, go with trans boost pyro,
then when you have those done you can get other ones like water temp oil pressure etc
Well first on the tranny temp, do you have an auto, I can't see any reason to have a tranny temp on a stick tranny. Second, I have noticed that the stock boost is really pretty accurate(surprisingly so), unless you think you'll be modding the turbo, I wouldnt do the boost gauge(unless for looks). Definately the egt, tranny if you have an auto, boost is up to you. I have done an a-pillar(egt, boost(I plan to do an aftermarket turbo once Bean is able to mass produce it), and tranny temp(auto and I make a living haulin horses) and a dash pod(water temp, volts, and oil pressure). If you don't use either boost or tranny for whatever reason, I would sub one of those with the water temp.
hey tex, my truck is auto and I dont think ill be upgrading the turbo. so I think I'm going to get the egt, tranny temp and water temp...
thanks
