I am considering my options and looking for more. I don't want the hassle of a 4v conversion, but I do want more power. I am thinking of some fuel system mods and possibly a dragon plenum with a 75mm TB. I was wondering if the 5.4L had better intake manifolds available, or what would be really nice is a modified casting head with more valves or a different angle. The 4.6L mustang options appear too tall, so has anyone seen any nice perf items that will fit under a truck hood?
I do not know of any aftermarket intakes for the 5.4l. Check out www.boss330racing.com This guy builds some mean 5.4L's. Even has a carb set-up I think.
More than the OE size TB on a truck intake is useless-there's no power to be gained there. As for cylinder heads..the 2V heads that are on it are your only options if you don't want hassles ever remotely cloe to an engine swap. Swapping in a 4V is alot simpler than you'd think.I've researched it for a little while, and I'll be doing it to my '98 F150 later this year after the summer driving/racing season.

Id highly recommend 4-valve heads as well. I honestly dont see why Ford didnt put 4-valve heads on these engines from the start. With multivalve heads you get a much more efficient mixing and combustion of the air/fuel mix.
Have you considered a supercharger? That would also be something to seriously consider if you want more power.
Yes, but I have to pay it off before I dump 6K into a Kenne bell, magnason or whipple.
The problem I have with an engine swap is, if I were do to it, I'd want a forged bottom end, new from top to bottom and ready to accept a supercharger and a decent amount of power. I wouldn't have to replace the trans right off, but I don't think the stock trans will like a blown 4v motor for long. So that makes my engine swap a 10k+ job. This is my daily driver and I need it to stay reliable, I am looking for easy bolt-ons- weekend jobs under 2k for now.

Have you ever driven a stock 4V Navigator?
Go drive it compared to your truck(keeping in mind the weight difference),and see if that's not enough power for what you're looking for.
