Has any one here bought a warranty or know anyone that has bought a warranty through this company? They have a warranty that will cover my 99 to 206,000 miles or until 2012 for $1400. I have done some research on them and they have been in the business for 27 years and I can't find many complaints on them, I even checked with the BBB. I am looking for pros and cons with this company or information from anyone that has dealt with them.
I have recently been shopping for an ext warranty for my '01 but have not run across "Warranty Direct". It sounds like you are already doing your homework on them, but just be aware of exactly what the warranty does and does not cover. In my experience, it varies tremendously from one compay to the next. Just my 2 cents. Sorry I can't help you more on this specific company.
Make sure you get a copy of their contract and READ IT VERY CAREFULLY.
One of the items you must do in order for their warranty to remain in good standing is have your oil changed at an established facility every 3 months or 3000 miles, no exceptions. I looked into this company and came across this stipulation. I called them and asked what would happen if the transmission gave out and I didn't have proof of this requirement. The answer I kept getting was "you must follow all of the stipulations in the contract". Also, find out if they will cover for the cost of OEM parts or "like quality" replacements, and what their coverage is on labor rates. Often times the warranty company will only cover the cost of the cheapest component they can find that will fit, and their coverage for labor rates is the lowest rate they can find in your geographic area. You are on the hook to pay for the difference out of your pocket.
Above all, READ THE CONTRACT carefully before you buy.
I had looked into warranty direct in the past on another vehicle. they seemed pretty good. they even were going to require that a rep of theirs inspect my vehicle prior to coverage. that makes sense. My service contract that i got when i bought it from the dealer allows me to do oil/coolant changes etc... But, i have to keep receipts and maintain my work in the maintenance log in my manual. If i have work done at a licensed facility, i have to keep the repair/work order.
