FX4 vs Lariat Ride

Do these trucks ride the same or do you get more of a "plush" ride with the Lariat then you do with a FX4?
Assuming of course they are both CrewCabs, and bed length is the same.

I'm pretty sure the only difference in the suspension is the shocks they put on the FX4. This would likely make them ride similar enough for most people to not tell the difference.

My FX4 rides firmer than the Lariat, but I guess it's because of the combo of the HD shocks and the 20" wheels. I am not complaining, I prefer it.

Just my opinion here, but I think the 20" wheels have more to do with that than the shocks.

I have the Lariat but almost bought the FX4 but I liked the plush ride of the Lariat so went with that, I could feel more bumps in the road with FX4 wich fiqures since it is an off road package so the shocks will be tighter plus the 20s do change the sidewall stiffness on the FX

Tom I'd bet you are correct there, although the shocks must play some role.

I drove both when I was looking for a new truck in 2004. I was able to feel every bump in the road with the FX4, while with the Lariat the ride was much smoother. I went with the Lariat.

I agree, I think the FX4 is stiffer in ride. I have the FX4 with the Goodyear LT tire option and it does ride much stiffer than the Lariat. I can feel every bump in the road.

I'm pretty sure the shocks on both Lariats and FX4's are the same, although there is a claim of "off road tuned" for the FX4. I've already replaced my stock one's and they have the following part numbers on them. Front 6L34-18043-LD and Rear 6L34-18080-LB. These are from a supercab Lariat.

Would one of you guys with an FX4 take a look and see if the shocks are actually different or not.

The FX4 shocks suck. The first thing I did with my 06 FX4 was swap out to a good pair.

I drove the FX4 and the Lariat before buying and went with the Lariat because the FX4 had a stiffer suspension.

Best thing to do is road test them yourself and make the decision on your own. You might have more tender bones than Joe Blow or you may be a weight lifter with less sensitivity to such stiff suspension. On a smooth street it will likely be a close comparison so ask the salesperson to guide you to a nice bumply location so you can check it out yourself with both vehicles. Dont be like the ******* who drive it down the freeway two miles and slap down 40K and then whine about the ride a week later.

Actually it is the same shock on both, but on the FX4 they are painted, and had a Rancho sticker.

My dad has a lariat and my uncle has a FX4 both feel the same to me.
