ECT location 2.3 EFI

My ECT evidently isin't where it's supposed to be. I've looked where the manual said, but to no avail. Anyone have any clues?

Thank's, Dean

In the water outlet pipe, follow the upper radiator hose back to the water outlet pipe, it should be a single wire sender located right there on the outlet pipe.

Thank's Zach, I checked, but it's not there. I looked around and found a sending unit under my intake manifold, have to remove my oil filter and dipstick tube to remove it though. And if antifreeze comes out I will have found it's hiding place. But that will have to wait till this evening. Have a great one.

Yours is probably similar to mine on the 88' 2.3L EFI. Is the one you are looking at coming out of the manifold sideways? If it is, and it is pointing back at the firewall it is probably the Air Temp (Charge?) Sensor. If you have the 2 piece intake manifold, look in the center of the lower part of the manifold on top, just behind the injectors. It will be crowded under there, but you should see it under there.

The sensor in this first pic is the Air Temp (Charge?) Sensor just above the filter like you described: Pic 1
This old nasty pic shows the ECT sensor right in the middle of the manifold:

I have a '91 2.3, 4 cyl. Ranger. The ECT Engine Coolant Temperature) Sensor is located on the underside of the intake manifold. Its above and to the left of the oil filter. As you reach up under the manifold you will find the two wires going to the sensor. Follow them toward the engine block and the sensor.

Thanks for the help. now it's just a matter of getting to it.Not a lot of room to work.Oh well.
Hey, do'es anyone know about code 88. I'm guessing my left coil, driver side isin't working properly, or at all. My tach is also working at about half the rpm's. I moved the coil from under the alternator to the fender well. It wasn't working properly before I moved it, but the tach would work properly sometimes but now only half rpm's. Was wondering if maybe it's not grounded right, or do'es it have to be?
