Ok I have had 5 different 194 bulbs go out behind the dash at different times
is there an easier way to replace these things without pulling out the radio and half the dash?? Who was the idiot that designed this set up
That's the blue oval for ya Black01Edge. You could do some modifications while your in there and cut the shroud out from around the gauges so it can be pulled seperately! I'd be interested to know how that turns out.
I've heard guys claim you can just pull the plastic and metal panels off below the column, then reach up and try to find the bulbs, twist them out, and replace them.
I figured the chances of success were so slim I didn't even bother.
When you get in there, change ALL the lamps, then back off on the brightess control, don't operate them at full brightness.
If you don't operate them at full brightness, then check the alternators output voltage, maybe the blown lamps are suggesting something is amiss with the alternators voltage regulator????!!!!
Awww- it ain't THAT bad. Only took me about 3 hours, including a trip to the parts store once I got it all torn apart to get bulbs, since they couldn't tell me what kind I needed beforehand.
went to the dealer got them all replaced plus an oil change for 40 bucks..couldnt beat that one with a stick and it only took them an hour for everything
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the bulbs in my dashboard burned out last fall. I thought that it would be simple to change out, WRONG! I started to pull the dash out, need to pull the radio, then need to pull a couple of panels below the steering column. After spending sometime trying to pull those panels, I gave up. I'm not sure how they are exactly attached. If I remember correctly, they have some clips or screws at the bottom, but I couldn't get the tops disconnected. I pried with my figures, but couldn't get it disconnected. Now one of them has a big gap along the seam. I'm rather pissed at myself for doing that. Perhaps I should just take it to the dealer and have them change them.
