I am look for pics of stack when I redo mine. I found some 5inch turnouts that are only 24" long so i am trying to figure out how they will look just clearing the cab.
Where did you find the 24" stacks tj? I'm doing stacks on mine soon and i still want the truck to get into the garage. I hope 36'ers will clear. I'm trying to figure out how high they are over the cab. I thought I saw some where grand rock will make you any length you want.
they are on ebay. the issue it that its just 24 inches from the top of the bed rails to the top of the cab. 36 will work better i think. if they are too tall just trim the bottom off a bit.
The 2nd looks stupid, I like the first one though, to each thier own I guess. I want to go straight up flat cut with flappers, kinda want to hear the ran caps bouncing off the pipe at idle.
As for noise, its no gas engine I'm driving and being I run straight pipe...............I figure I should be as abnoxious as I can.
Tim, I can't let this thread go without some defense in his corner. While I don't agree with the orientation of the stack cuts....to each his own. Chris is a very good friend of mine. And trust me, it don't matter how those stacks are pointed...that truck can SERIOUSLY roll the coal!!! He is the CTD club treasurer(sp) and their club put on that dyno event I wrote about a few weeks ago. Let me tell you Chris was the only truck to completely clear the shop from too much smoke. He rolled well over 500hp/1000tq and looked extremely cool doing it. And also in his defense, his stacks aren't like that anymore. They are a little closer together and bigger. While I'm not a dodge guy, I have to defend my friends. Chris is a super nice guy and not one of those Dodge guys that bashes everything else that isn't. He's a true diesel enthusiest no matter what it is. But his platform of choice is the Cummins. Anyway, I know.....what are the odds!! I'm not trying to get down on you by any means. But Chris is a very good friend, and I couldn't let this pass without some defense for him. But the orientation of the cuts....yeah, he was on his own on that one. But I promise, that truck is bad *** up close and personal. Okay, I'm off my soap box. Please don't be mad at me Tim, I know you would do the same.
Now thats a Friend! I can't bash the truck. I have full respect for Cummins and even Durmaxes cause I know if I start running my mouth the chances of being able to back it up are slim. I just can't see the stacks facing that way! There are alot of awesome people that don't do thing the same way I would do them. Don't mean their wrong just not what I would do to my truck.
I should also note that i can handle the first truck with the mitre cuts but that second truck, that one is special! I can't firgure that one out! Its also worth mentioning that in all my stack viewing last night I saw a number of fords with some strange ways of doing things. funny though as I think about it I didn't see more than 2 or 3 chevy with stacks. what gives with that?
I agree, I wouldn't put my stacks like that, but he said he was just trying to be different. Well, he accomplished that! The second guy...........I don't know him, but just to be safe after this coincedence I'm just gonna say it looks silly and leave it at that. As far as seeing Dmaxes with stacks..... I think about it like this. People who buy Chevys are follow the pack people. It's rare you see a new chevy that doesn't look like 10,000 other ones. Not much thinking outside the box. Dodge guys know they are gonna make a ton of power and just want to put it in your face. Ford guys, are the patient wait until all the other crap falls apart kind of guys, and get our digs in when we drive home at the end of the day and not on a trailer. But that's just my opinion.
