well it's been a couple of weeks, but i braved the cold this morning and put on the HPX from ITP Diesel. took a little longer that i thought (darn IC pipe and my fat hands) but it's in and so far no leaks. seems to idel a bit smoother. now on to the next mod...
It's a worthwhile update to the system that's just taking longer than expected.
yeah I have been waiting with baited breath for the new system to come out.
Thinking thats my next major upgrade but oh well I run bio so worth the wait I suppose.
I did the ITP HPX too, first thing I noticed when I first installed it was my idle went up about 50-75rpm but after a couple times of running it has went back to normal, I just assumed it was because everything was running better.
i've been eyeing the regulated return myself... i gotta get a few of the basic mods done first, like gauges, new exhaust and hutch and harpoon and in-tank and pre-pump mods done before i can get the regulated return... at my pace the new kit will be out well before i get around to ordering and installing it!
I have had this mod going on four years now, and have the braided HP hose. I have never heard that you have to change it yearly, Am I in the dark? Do i need to change my HPXOVER hose? No runs No drips No oil in valley, whats up with the change yearly?
I don't know what kit you bought, but I got the SS hard line from ITP. I too thought it was bunk, replacing the hose every year but if that is what it says, I wouldn't advise otherwise. The only thing I will point out is that the stock HPOP lines to the heads are SS braided HOSES. That's right, HOSES. Just pull the convoluted tubing off of them and you will see.
I like the look better without the convoluted tubing and have been down that road here about pulling it off but I made sure my hoses don't rub against anything. If my crappy camera battery ever finishes charging, you will see pics of them in my DIY fuel system mod post.

TENN, I had a braided hose that was actually put together by a dealer mechanic he installed it when I complained about oil in the valley about 4 years ago, he told me then that it would help my computer read the pressure better, and that it would not leak anymore. all this was done as a side job at his house, this was also before I had ever been on this or any other forum, or even knew what he was talking about . Anyhoo, I did as MJLEWIS, and ordered the hard line kit from ITP and changed it this weekend. I can say that some of the SSbraiding off the old line had worn and was probably about to get a bubble in the rubber. So what can I say FTE saves me again.

Well you are certainly safe now. I doubt the hose was ready to fail anytime soon unless it was of inferior design. Hydraulic hoses and fittings these days are really quite advanced as evidenced by the stock HPOP oil feed lines to the heads. Not many cases of those failing here.
