Do you know how to set the swr once you get it hooked up and running, Ford_Racing_4_Life? That is an important step for the life of the radio and the quality of the signal.
No, That was going to be my next question once i got everything hooked up. But that website pretty much covered that. Thanks.
As for those wilson dealers... they are all about an hour - 2 hours away from here So I'm not sure how thats gunna work out but, guess we'll find out.
Is there any adapter that could take it from a 1/2" to a 3/8" so It would fit into a normal antenna mount?

This is the piece that screws into the bottom of the antenna and the top of the mount.

In the pic.. it is 1/2" on the left and 3/8" on the right. I have a Truckers special 5" mag mount that accepts a 3/8" x20 or 24 (wut ever it is). Is there an adapter to make that 1/2" a 3/8"? or should i just replace the whole piece with a new one that is 3/8" on each side? if so... does anyone sell just that part of the antenna???
ya i havnt seen anything.(even online) about 1/2" threads for these. I bought it used so it might not be the original. I would like to get a new mount, but im really tight on money right now so... not gunna happen. Need to find a way to make a 1/2" thread fit in a 3/8" hole.
the base on your 5000 should be 3\8 female thread the look as though your mount is also 3\8 female if this is true a 3\8 stainless stud should couple them together
I was thinking of doing that, but wasnt sure if it would be stable. Also my neighbor said something about the piece of metal sticking out from the middle of the 1/2" side. He thought it might be something that needed to be there.http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s73/fordracing1/antennamount2.jpg
I've never seen a wilson antenna with a 1/2 mounting hole in the bottom, everyone I have seen is a 3/8 thread. The most important step in whole installation is setting the SWR. Read the directions, get you a good SWR meter and 3 ft. jumper. Adjust accordingly. You can make a 50.00 radio sound as goos as a 500.00 radio if properly adjusted. If the SWR is over about a 2.5:1 ration you will burn the finals out real quick due to reversing power back into the radio. If you dont have access to a good meter you can go to a radio shop and get it set. I personally would stay away from a fiberglass antenna. I just dont care for them. I ran a peaked and tuned 25 LTD with a RK56 mic. I really liked that radio. Good luck.
