Well I inquired about which gears they would recommend to get on my v6 2001 f150 2wd automatic the 3.73 or 4.10 & as i was asking they popped me a question, how was i going to CALIBRATE my SPEEDOMETER so my question is if i add GEARS what other mods/tunes/calibration or if i add gears what other combo is recommended with it to work well????? also will my tranny be affected in any way(damage) by gears?? well i know there is alot of guys probably trying to do the same so any INFO would be greatly appreciated and very helpful! THANKS!! Also wat gears would you recommend? THANKS AGAIN!!!
Im just trying to get my V6 toe to toe with any 350 who thinks my v6 is no match.
Slowly but fo sho ALL MODS are coming in!
Got airaid intake/spacer/ so far, getting next headers & exhaust followed by gears/shift kit/ all bolt ons / tuner etc...
ok, first off....your not going to get a 4.2L to tow what a 5.4 will....just won't happen....the big F-150's with the tow package are made to handle the weight and your truck isn't....thats the first thing...you need to stay safe when towing of you'll find youself in a bad situation quickly...
now as for the gears....4.10's for sure....and if you get a tuner you can adjust your speedo or i think superlift makes a tru-cal that you can re-calibrate your speedo to be correct....
if you want that to tow like your looking to do you better get a supercharger or put a 5.4 in it with a good auto and a 9.75 rearend to handle the power and some new leaf springs to handle the trailer....
just only so much you can do with a 4.2....no offence by any of this....
for instance ...my uncle has a 4.2 L and when we try to tow wood with it .....the poor truck crys......and thats only a 1/2 a cord....then i hook my truck up to a full cord....aprox 5,500 lbs and drive off....
just think about that before you go and try to tow 5,000 lbs or more with your truck....
