Minor things

I have a 1998 F150 XL Extended Cab 4x4. K+N Air Intake Kit, Cat back exhaust and slightly oversize tires (265/75r/16).

I burn up spark plug wires all the time. I have to replace them just about every six months. I drive hard. I have about 315000 k's on her (4.6 litre) and since i first bought the truck i've burned up wires. What the deal with that?

And now my shifter doesnt line up properly on the indicator on the dashboard. Drive is somewhere between "D" area. lol.

Love the truck and I run her hard on and off road.

I'm about to purchase a new truck. Torn between a F150 with a six inch lift and 35" tired from Blackstock Ford or an F250. Also torn between the gas 250 and the diesel 250. Maintenance and the purchase of the gas 250 would be cheaper but I'm almost sure the diesel would be the better choice for power to weight.

Thoughts?

What brand wires do you use? A good set from Taylor, MSD or magnacore should last longer than the cheap ones. It probably a faulty jacket causing your problems, so look for a high quality silicone.

The shifter dial is adjustable, find the cable then you will see a wheel near the cluster. Turn that wheel until it lines up where you want.

Diesels are loud. You can't slip on much of anything with one.

Unless you do lots of heavy hauling or drive lots and lots (Im talking at least 30,000 miles a year), you wont save enough in fuel to offset the added purchase price and maintenance costs of the diesel.
I love the sound and the smoke of a diesel, but for me personally its not worth the added cost of ownership.

yup, i'm with you fellers. I posted up with some other fellas on here and they told me the same thing. I'm gonna go with a lifted 150 with the 5.4. Not too mention that i've always wanted a lifted truck.

thanks for the tip for the shifter brah, she's worked out just nicely.
