Ok, you guys I posted previously about my 92 F150 and after replacing EGR valve and EVP sensor. It is still running rough at idle and surging periodically while driving. We have checked for vacuum leaks and there are none. So I have to order the EGR control solenoid (EVR) because that is the only thing we can think it could be. Below is the explanation of code 334. Does it seem possible that replacing the EGR control solenoid would solve my problem? Or can my EVP be faulty?
We had disconnected battery for 30 mins before checking codes, KOEO SELF TEST.
I used the Actron electronic code scanner to get codes.
DPFE or EVP circuit above the closed limit of 0.67 volts.
That's all that's left to replace in the circuit.
Before you go and get the part, check the wiring. Do continuity checks and make sure there are no broken wires or insulation missing.
It's possible that the voltageis spiking from a short to power. This would be caused by a higher voltage wire rubbing through one of the wires in the egr circuit.
I'm sure you've been asked this but how's your IAC?
The IACV is attached to the left side of the trottle body. If its dirty (carbon buildup) it will need cleaning. The IACV controls your idle.
Just a couple of ideas you may want to try. Clean the trottle body and the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV). Mine had excessive carbon build up (1991 F150 5 Ltr). I removed the entire trottle body and cleaned it with Barrymans B12 using a tooth brush for those hard to reach places. I also soaked the IACV in Berrymans overnight (just the valve not the electronic solonoid) and cleaned it also. This has soved my starting & idle problems with the truck. I assumed you have changed your air filters and PVC valve. Also check the IACV electrically to be sure it has about 9-11 ohms impedance. Good luck.
Last time I had problems similar to what your describing that was the fix. Cost ya about $10 for the chemicals and a few good hours of labor. The IAC is bad about getting dirty and affecting idle(mostly) but I've seen it cause an engine to shudder or hesitate at crusing rpm.
Thanks guys, I appreciate all the help being there is not a mechanic around here that can be trusted I have put over $4000 into this truck since I bought it in February of 2005 replaced bottom half of engine( abig chuck missing out of a piston then the tranny started slipping periodically so I parked as not to cause more damage until taxes so I could have it rebuilt as I was told that is what it needed(by several shops) After 9 mos in shop and a new tranny case (computer, alternator, starter and column he broke that) it was finally rebuilt and 3 weeks later it was doing it again turns out the best people in the world here helped me fix myself. Well that intermitant failing electronic speedo was the problem the whole time. Oh well after tommorrow I hope it will all being running great again and I can get back to buying the leveling springs soon.
Thanks and take care,
Kallie
