I Have a 1992 ranger xlt extended cab. My fuel tank is leaking around the filler neck. It seems the plastic has a crack in it where the neck is seamed to the tank. My question is if I have to replace the tank, what years will interchange with mine? Is there any repair products that will seal this area permanently?
Not sure what years will work, but one things for sure. It's a lot easier to work on the tank with the bed off. It's only 6 bolts(I'd replace with new ones) and it's pretty light. Dropping the tank is a PITA!!
i am having the same type of trouble on my '93. I cannot just leave the gas pump while its pumping... eventually, the tank fills up and starts spilling out somewhere up under the truck. Driving does not slosh out any gas. Also, I cant take a bottle of Gas Treatment and just toss it down the tube. If I do, it will all end up on the ground under the truck. The only way I can get that kind of stuff in there is if I insert a funnel/tube into the filler tube about 6 inches or so.
My best guess is that I have some cracks/holes in my filler tube. Once I get that figured out and fixed, then I need to figure out why my gas guage doesnt work anymore. It was doing this deal where it would work one week, and not the next. That turned into working this month, not the next. Now it doesnt work ever! Very annoying.
Great truck - rolling over 200k miles sometime this week. Just lots of little things like this to fix, due to its age.
