Napa Tool Opinion Needed

I know the most people that work for a dealer owns Snap On and my son and law who is a tech for Ski-Doo owns them and I have used them. There is nothing out there better than Snap On but I can't afford them just to work on my truck and lawn mower so I have to purchase a more affordable mfg. of tools. I was looking at Napa Evercraft tools and they are lifetime warranted. We have used them at work and have had no problems with them. Is there anyone out there that has anything to say about Evercraft?

Truthfully for the money and warranty.............. You can't beat a Craftsman. My tools at work are mostly Snap On, Mac. But for at home jobs, and doing things around the house. Sears won't let you down, may even get a better tool for the money than NAPA.

Sears also (under Crafstman name) carries a lifetime warranty on all hand tools. Have a wide variety of other tools, wood, and alike.

I just sold all of my Craftsman tools because Sears gave me a hard time the last four times I had returned some tools that needed replacement. I had my tool box at 4 draws of wrenches and 6 draws of sockets. Monday I will stop at Napa they replace there tools with no problem we used there sockets with an impact and split some. This had me impressed and when I went to sears with my tools they wore out with use not miss use.

NAPA has a couple different lines of tools. The ones that say NAPA on them and are usually behind the counter and the cheaper ones out in the isle which are Evercraft. The Evercraft ones arnt that great...better than Harbor Freight but that don't say much. The NAPA tools are made by Danaher and arn't bad at all. They are the equivelent of Craftsman Pro (also made by Danaher), in fact they are probably the exact same thing with different markings. Craftsman Pro and NAPA are probably the best of the cheap tools.

My advise, if you can't afford Snap-on and want tools, buy SK. Much better than NAPA or Craftsman and not much more $$$ and a lifetime warranty. In my opinion SK is the best bang for the buck hand tool out there.

For me I don't even know that we have a Napa dealer here so even if we do it kind of reduces the chances of me buying from them. Sears tools I would buy, but probably stay with the Pro series instead of the regular Craftsman line. Especially with the Craftsman ratchets they just aren't very smooth. As far as return I haven't had a problem with them although on my 3/8 ratchets they would just give me a kit to replace them with. Otherwise I haven't had a problem with the few that I have had to return. However in my opinion Sears should have the right to refuse to exchange if the tool has been modified or obviously abused, like with using standard sockets on a impact. I've bought some Harbor Freight tools for when I need to modify and to tell the truth I haven't have trouble with them so far, but they also aren't the first ones I pick up either.

Buying tools at NAPA or any parts store is like buying groceries at the 7-11. Parts store tools are a convenience item in the store, there are better deals.

Looks like there is one more! I don't see a problem with this forum. There seems to be a good reply. Thank you everyone for your help.

Kobalt are okay. I will always stick with Crafsman and I am sure that those guys buying Champion brand are sick of me bitching at them every time they come back and buy another tool to replace the one that they broke.

Don't go cheap on tools---its your stuff that they are touching.

The biggest thing about Kobalt is the selection is limitted. Plus they are as expensive, in some case more than Craftsman tools.

I have not had good experience with the Evercraft air tools and the ones I bought at Northern Tools to replace them were much better.

I usually only buy by tools at Snap-On or Northern Tools (their impact sockets are great). I just bought their flare nut sockets to replace the Autozone junk. They are WAY thick compared to the stuff available at the auto part places and look like they are better made and closer tolerance.

If I need flarenut wrenches or high quality stuff I still buy Snap-On, for stuff in my truck or road tool box, its Northern Tools. For impact air tools it is IR. For air drills and such usually Northern Tools, IR, or Snap-On (last if I expect to use it a lot).

The Husky (Home Depot) 1/2" breaker bar is just about the beefest you can buy.
