Ball joint replacement

OK guys,

My brothers 99 F-250 manual hub 4x4 Shortbed Super cab diesel needs ball joints. Both losers are junk and were going to do all 4. Just looking at it it looks like I Have to pull the axles to get it all apart. I've never done one before so I'm on here looking for advice. Someone elses wise words are usually better than any manual.

My questions are:

1. How does this all come apart?

2. Anything special to watch for?

3. A little step by step would be great.

That's alot of work for somebody that hasn't been through it before.

Remove everything brake wise. Remove the rotors. Remove both axles. Remove both tie rod ends from each steering knuckle.
With a hammer or a tool called a "Pickle Fork" bust loose all four ball joints then remove the steering knuckles.
You may be better off having a machine shop remove and press in the new ball joints.
Teh reverse order.
Have a couple beers on me.

Not too worried about doing the work, only way you learn is do it. Just looking for a heads up. I do have the ball joint fork so I have that covered and I do have a blue wrench for back up. I'll get it apart one way or the other! LOL

What holds the axle in? Is it held in by the spindle bearing, Snap rings or does it have c clips in the diff?
