Well, I went an picked up the transfer case that my neighbor had.
I do believe its an NP205, but not 100%. So I got a few pics and you gurus that know more about tcases than me can post up.
I'd like to see pictures of 205s in your trucks as well (mainly the crossmembers), to get an idea of how I'm going to mount it, and the shifter linkage, twin stick mods, etc.
Also any good websites for rebuilding/tearing down the 205.
It's definately a 205. In the 2nd picture, the small round plate with the 3 bolts holding it are a dead give-away. It's also a 32 spline version which is stronger than the 17 spline version.
The only cross member that is on mine is the one that fits the adaptor and has the rear trans mount. on the drivers side frame rail there is a L shaped bracket bolted to the frame at teh same angle as the one on the Tcase side and it's got a bushing between them and bolted to that. I used a body bushing on mine cause I have never been able to find a poly version of that bushing. You might be able to get a stock replacement but I haven't had good luck with that either.
Anyone have any scematics for taking a 205 apart? I don't think it needs to be gone thru, I'd just like to check out the internals before I install it in my pickup.
Those are the right mounts, I had searched for them in the past and never found them, well now I should go out and buy the correct ones. Thanks.
As to twin sticking it, well I have never seen a need for it so don't do it but then again I don't even have the shifter on it at all so guess I ain't the right person to ask.
No problem with the link monster. I see no reason to twin stick my truck either. As soon as my insurance runs out it is going to be made into a mud/trail only truck. Hopefully, by the time my insurance runs out, I will have the new transfercase in and new d-shafts made. LOL
The t-case is actually pretty simple, just pay attention when taking it apart and you should be fine, be sure to not forget any snap rings when you put it back together, take pictures if you have to. Good luck.
Good to see your alive. How are things out west? Sounds kinda chilly out there today. Now that I have a car trailer I'm going to make a run to go wheeling with you guys this summer!
Sounds good man! Yea it is snowing as I speak, I hope to get some work done on my rig this weekend. Give me a call and we will get something figured out...maybe memorial day weekend.
