6cyl flywheel interchangeability

Hi all, I am newly the proud owner of a 66 F-100. The truck was kinda in pieces and I have put it all back together. It will take the job of DD for me upon completion.

Can anybody here please tell me for certain if the flywheel from a 240 6-cyl is a correct/direct replacement for a flywheel on a 300 6-cyl? I got 2 flywheels and a 300 6 with the truck. It is all together and I have an annoying vibration/harmonic. I have ruled out rubber mounts, ignition.

Anything will help at this point.

TIA Todd

Have any markings (Ford Engineering Numbers) off the 240 or 300 flywheels? Some are the same, a couple are not.

Ford stamped engineering numbers on 1965/72 240/300 M/T flywheels

C5TE-6380-B .. 184 tooth ring gear~240/300/300 H/D

C5TE-6380-E .. 184 tooth ring gear~240/300

C7AE-C .. 164 tooth ring gear~240/300

C7TE-B .. 164 tooth ring gear~240/300

C7TE-E .. 184 tooth ring gear~300 H/D

C8TE-A .. 164 tooth ring gear~240

The numbers on one of the 2 read

C5TA 7003L F-25 1-6-66 435

Of course this is the one I dont have issues with yet. I will check the link and see where that takes me.

I need the actual flywheel and vibration damper engineering numbers to see what they are, and if they match. The 7003 number you listed is for the transmission, don't need that.

I realized I had messed up, but you were too fast!!

Single pulley damper
C5 A1 67 16 B2

Flywheel number
C5AE 6380 H

I am having difficulty reading the numbers on the 2 pulley damper. I will get those before I tear anything down. BRB

Only 240 I-6's were used in passenger cars, no 300's were ever offered.

In those days were the F-100 considered pass. cars? Did the 240 I6 make its way into light pickups and cars simultaneously?

Okay, to get a good number from the 2 pulley damper I need to pull the fan and the radiator. Just bought a new radiator and dont want to dent it up.

Thanks again

Nooo, passenger cars/trucks two different animals. Both numbers you listed are from cars, however, as I have all the truck engineering numbers, and those numbers you posted do not match. 240 and 300 I-6's were both introduced in 1965, and the cars got the 240 that year (cars never used a 300). Both the 240 and 300 were used in trucks beginning also in 1965.
