Hi.I am new here.Been having some issues with my explorer and thought maybe you guys could shoot me some ideas.heres what I got
1999 explorer 4 door 5.0 awd
the problem I am having is the past days it has been idling rough not stalling ,but it seems like it wants too then the check engine light came on,so i took it to Advance for the diag. and it said running lean in bank 1 and 2.I cleaned the mass air sensor and deleted codes. In the morning it will run fine ,but as i drive and seems like it will only do it when hot outside it will start doing it again but i havent had the engine light come on again yet and i dont know if this has anything to do with it but it seems i smwll anti freeze every now and then, but not leaking anywhere.
Thanks to anyone who could help.
Tony

If you haven't replaced the o2 sensors your probably well overdue. They should be done between 30,000 and 60,000 miles. If it runs decent for the first 5 minutes and then gets worse, I'd suspect the o2s wether they were new or not. You probably only need to replace the one/two pre-cat sensors as the rear sensors are emissions only.
If you smell antifreeze but can't find a leak check the coolant level. If you are loosing antifreeze and the smell comes from the exhaust it may be a head gasket.
Im going to change the o2 and see what hapens.I dont know if the anti freeze smell was coming from exhaust.I know I smelt it up front.I will check next time it does it.
If you don't find the leak and the smell is coming from the front, check the radiator cap. If it's not getting a good seal it could be boiling over and evaporating when it gets hot.
Well replaced the o2 and still have the same problem, but seen where my hose right above the water pump has small leak. The old o2 sensor i took out look like it was burning clean, any other ideas?
