This is why I posted about CCV mod and cheeseburgers https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/589246-is-a-ccv-mod-like-a-bacon-cheeseburger.html?highlight=bacon+cheeseburger I was concerned about more subtle effects over time due to the extra CC pressure on seals from a CCV mod, but this is an example of an outright heart attack... "Woossshhhhhh-about 20 or so PSI came out...." as posted here https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/556525-warning-for-those-of-you-who-did-the-ccv-mod-and-live-in-cold-climates.html "I found the the back half of the hose full of ice. The engine then built enough pressure to force oil through the turbo seals into the exhaust. Because of this find, it looks like I will be putting the CCV back to stock, as much as I don't want to." The last time I checked, water freezes at 32 F, so it seems to me that almost everyone might be subject to this problem.

LOL I have had a CCV vent mod for 2 years in some of the worst conditions in the country and never had an issue. Installers error... Get it right, vent to air, keep the hose high and be done.

I've seen spit freeze before it hits the ground. I don't care how you run that hose, once it leaves the warmth of the engine compartment the condensation inside is subject to freezing!

Really? Come spend the winter's here where it can be -25 below for 2 weeks at at a time. Error?? Don't think so. Condensation forms in that hose, this we know. Add extremely cold temps, and you have a problem, no matter where your hose is routed. Unless you are keeping it close to the engine compartment, it is a potential problem in this area.

It has held up really well for about a year now. I had actually bought black heater hose at first, and then decided on the clear hose (so I've got about 25' of heater hose in the attic ). I chose it so I could see if there were any blockages in the hose at a quick glance. I actually think it's tougher than the rubber heater hose, too, but don't know for sure.

Yeah, I think I got it at Lowe's... maybe Home Depot?

If you cut the hose right at the bottom of the engine compartment it'd probably be fine, as the whole length of it would be in the warm engine compartment. I still may do this one mine (it's currently run all the way back to the bumper), as I've got a low spot I can't avoid and it slowly collects oil that condenses. Probably have 1-2 tablespoons built up in there, filling about 1/3 of the hose's diameter. I'll either put a T in there that I can drain occasionally, or just cut it off near the tranny crossmember so it just hangs.

Sounds like my CCV mod cheeseburger analogy leading to an eventual heart attack isn't that far off the mark after all. If I knew my arteries were that blocked, I think I might be considering a stent! At 65, I also wish I could see inside them that easily to know what's going on in there.
