Abs
Is there a way to tell if the ABS unit is bad? I have read through some threads and a humming sound was all that was listed. Is there a sure fire way? The light does stay on a little longer than the rest, but it eventually goes out. After installing a new water pump about three days ago (w/ the $35. thermastat), my funds are a little low now.

Hard to say from your description. However if you brake hard on a slippery surface and your ABS is NOT working then you will get lockup. Usually the rear wheels will lock and skid easily followed by the front under severe braking. If the ABS is working then under the same conditions you should come to a stop without any wheels locking up and you should feel a rapid pulsating thru the brake pedal as the ABS works. I can assure you that on a wet or loose surface under braking you will soon know if the ABS is NOT working.
