Unhappy Knocking Sound
97 F150 4X4 Automatic 5.4 liter

Will too much transmission fluid cause a knocking sound? Have checked exhaust, flywheel, engine no problems found to explain sound.

Does the sound only occur at startup? They are known for piston slap, which will cause a rattly sound for the first few minutes that the engine is running, but goes away once it warms up a little.
