My 87 F250 with the 4.9L fuel injected EEC-IV system has a bad PCM. The strange thing is that this PCM has no tag and has a 14 pin connector instead of the normal 60 pin connector. There is also another "black box" with two miltipin connectors mounted next to it under the dash just to the left of the radio.
My theory is that Ford split the PCM into two boxes for this particular model.
Can anyone confirm my theory and can anyone help I.D. the part numbers so I can look for replacement(s)?
Any engineering numbers on the old parts? Otherwise a calibration code is needed. Calibration code is listed black letters on a yellow decal, top of radiator support.
The metal PCM case is incribed with E7TF-2C018-AC. The plastic "black box" is incribed with 7Z-EOAF-9D844-AA. There is no decal on the radiator support.
Thank you numberdummy. I was looking at the wrong boxes. after a little more searching, I found the PCM with the P/N sticker still on it mounted on the left quarter panel behind the left interior kick panel.
I thought it would have mounted under the dash like the books said but I guess the engineers at the factory didn't read the same book I did.
