Ya its me again.lol. I also have a 292 in a 1964 ford f100. ya i got two. anyways, do you think that the intake manifold can be retrofitted with bungs for the injectors? Is ther a certain angle those injectors are supposed to sit? as far as the fuel injection system i plan on using the ford 5.0 system and one of those spider elbows they use on the 302's. Anybody ever tried injecting one of these motors. If i could do it i'd rather use mechanical fuel injection but i have been told they aint very good for the street. any input would be greatly appreciated.
The latest issue I think of Hot Rod has a Q&A about injector angles and location. Pick it up to get your answer.
I've seen a throttle body injection adapted to a 292 and it worked fine, but that's a much simpler install.
A freind of mine in Wisconsin adapted his 61 Unibody 292 to fuel injection. He used the throttle body from a 86 5.0 liter. His truck gets 26mpg. He doesn't have computer access right now. There used to be photos in the tech section ofBadgerland F100's website about the fuel injection and his adaptinf a T-5 transmission to his Y-block.
I have pictures of his truck, and the throttle body injection system he put on there.
He badged the truck with a chromed "Fuel Injected" trim piece - that sure turns a head or two.
And yes, it will do 70 faster than anything!
i've been wondering about that for years, sure am interested in finding out more about it. 10 to 26 is a hugh difference in milage. i'd drive my truck a whole lot more if that can be achieved, dutch
