i have 00 psd ,with 174,000 miles,it has a miss at idle when it is cold,it is worse, when it is warmed up,pulled driver side valve cover ,wires, looked good, ocasional hammering sound, coming from pass side, suspect bad injectors?

Can you pull codes? Sounds like you are headed in the right direction but you need to narrow it down.

Try to get a BUZZ and Cylinder Contribution test to help narrow it down. You may even try ohming the injectors stating at the IDM connector then the 42 pin connector over the driverside valve cover and then the connector at the valve cover. This will test the injector and rule out any harness shorts between the IDM and valve covers. PM me your email address and I can send you the pinout of the IDM connector.

When you pulled the valve covers to the check the harness, did you check the 9 pin connectors? Both of mine were loose (70K miles) with a gap of about 1/4". The driver side was the worst and giving a bad connection on one of the injectors causing a miss and a P1316 fault code . The locking plastic tabs are junk.. ( I have picture of it, if you want to see it).. All is good now.
