my wife says i can build the stereo in my truck again, but i'm not sure i want to...i can hardly hear anything now as it is...so whats the concensus...its all up to you'se... should i??
Maybe get your hearing checked first. I have to get mine done here soon. I too do not hear everything as good as I use to. Just like my eyesight. Have to wear glasses nowadays.
i wouldn't, but me, I'm happy with stock speakers. think, teh money you spend on a stereo, you could buy an old vehicle. $500 gets you a pretty okay 62 Fairlane down the raod from me
I`m happy with most factory stereos, that 62 Fairlane sounds to sweet to spend the money on a stereo upgrade.
I don`t think that I want to have my hearing checked, there may not be much to check....
lol...true, true there Fom...funny how each time i've built a stereo, it gets louder each time...as my hearing gets worse each time... maybe its time to stop that nonsence...
I just got Clarion 53wx4 deck and 4 Concept 5x7" in my car. I figured I needed to upgrade when one of the factory speakers died shortly after getting my car and my dad's 91 F-250 got my stock deck so he's happy to have a good working radio. I got great highs and mids but it's a little lacking on the bass. I'd love to get a sub but I'm cheap. I'd probably just get a single 10". I like clean crisp bass, not that car vibrating garbage. How can people think it sounds good when their interior trim and trunk vibrates.
Nathan, effie_man/Chris has a Sub Woofer with 2 - 10" JL W1's and a 350 Zapco Amp and Stinger Power and ground wires with inline fuse. Check out his ad in the For Sale/Wanted thread here or PM him.
Morris and Chris, I did see the ad but as I said I'm cheap and I'd want the woofers to be separate. This way I can fit them behind the wheelwells then I will still have trunk space and still be able to get the spare tire out. My brother's girlfriends Civic has about 1x4 feet of space in the truck and you have to remove the big sub box to get the tire.
I am all in for stereo upgrades! My thought is if you love music, like I do, you want to have it sounding the best you can. Sure spending that 500 bucks, or whatever it may be, on something else is fun too, but you dont get good sound on your stereo then!
hey i like your thinking there prep!!!!! i'm trying to decide the best way to build a box...where to put it, and have it easy to remove in case i need the space...then its $$$ time... i do love the thumping though...
