How many owners use their truck as a daily driver with very infrequent towing? I'm in the market for a diesel truck and would use it as a daily driver and occasionally to tow my car. I plan on keeping the truck for at least 10 years or even longer considering I only put about 12-14k miles on my current daily driver per year.
Daily driver here also, of a 2006 PSD. During the warmer months, I plan to use it with my truck camper. Bought it new 6 months ago and have 6000 miles on it, of which I have loved every one.... an amazing truck, and easy to live with as a daily driver. Fun, too.
I have 1700 miles on mine as a daily driver and I love it. I have only towed my boat once with it, but it was a beast, boat is a smidge over 5500 pounds and the truck didnt even know it was back there. Oh by the way, when people ask you (and they will) "What are you going to pull with that?" The correct answer is "Anything that I want to."
I use mine as a daily driver and rack up about 20K miles/year. I very rarely make short trips and unfortunately have not used it to tow yet. I also stay on top of routine maintenance, which is extremely critical for the PSD. It's performed flawlessly and I still have the PSD grin every time I get behind the wheel. When people ask me why I have such a large truck, I always respond "because I can!"
Maybe one day I'll get my mustang converted to a strip car and I'll be towing it to the drag strip!
my wife and i both drive the KW. (over-the-road team drivers.)
so for the little bit we are home, it doesnt make sense to have 2 vehicles.
so our little black truck is our grocery getter and tow vehicle.
tow vehicle not so often.
My plan is to use this 2006 cc SD Kr as a daily driver/kidhauler/"sunday school truck" for 5 years, then demote it to a farm truck. I've only had it for 3 months and I'm in love. I've got to agree with wannabe that maintainance is the key to any DD, but especially the PSD. Enjoy your truck the way you want to, for goodness sakes it a great truck and its yours.
Daily here since the wife has the Maxima. Need the SD for the fiver and can't see having 3 vehicles. Besides, as you all know, it is fun to drive. Never have to worry about being cut-off.
Daily driver for me. Keep in mind that they don't like extended low rpm idling or prolonged time not being driven. I switched to synthetic to help with all of the cold starting. I bought a diesel to tow a boat and carry a truck camper. The gasoline engines can barely do it, and the diesel didn't even gear down driving over the Cascades, and Montana passes to Missoula from Seattle.
If you go gas, you really need to go to a high number rear end which absolutely sucks down the gas all of the time. Otherwise, you're going to be downshifting a lot!
Daily driver for me and my dad. We haul nothing! Kinda wish we could but theres nothing that we own to haul. I drive the truck mostly to school and around. We Bought the truck for a couple reasons, Mosly it gets better gasmilage than our old 5.4 in the 250 with alot more power. And our last truck was an extended cab, us kids grew up so my dad traded it in for the crew. Excellent truck and by far our favorite.
Daily driver here also before this dually I had a 96 F250 and put 80,000 miles on it .I tow once in awhile, use the 4X4 when I need it , grab gears blow smoke and light up the tires because I can . I smile everytime I get in and shut the door do I really need it NO but I just have to have it oh yah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yup, Daily driver here also. Do you wanna be that weenie over there in that rice burner, or do you want to pull up to a light and make people roll their windows up and give you snide looks becuase your hammer mill just invaded thier space?
Gut the kitty, drop the muff, dip it in the big hole and gouge on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My 04 250 PSD is my DD. I've had it 7 months and 10,000 miles. The missus and I drove it to Fla from Ct last month and averaged 19 mpg doing 70-80 mph. Why drive something that you don't fit in and won't so the jobs you need to do.
