Extra Part in Tranny Pan

Changed fluid and filter yesterday. However when I dropped the pan there was a small 2 to 3 inch long white plastic - plug of just laying in the bottom of the pan. One end had a bell shape to it with an o-ring on it with a 1/4" diameter stick connected to it on the other end.

I examined the bottom end of the tranny looking for a place that it went - but could not find anything.

Went ahead and put truck back together and everything was just fine. - 1st time tranny was serviced.

Extra part from factory? Anybody with any ideas on where / what this is?

The plug was used to block the hole for the dipstick during the assembly process. When the dipstick is installed, the plug falls into the oil pan. All it means is that you were the first to change the transmission fluid on your truck. Just discard it.
