I know nothing about these 4.6 engines, but I have a totalled 96 Mustang GT with a good engine, and I know someone with a 97 F150 with the 4.6, and he needs an engine. My question is, do these engines interchange? Are there any real differences between a Mustang and truck engine? I'd guess the timing chain cover, fuel injection/intake, and the oil pan would be different, but how about the basic long block itself? If I sell this engine to him for the pickup, will he run into any problems installing it?

Thanks for the help.
He'll need to swap over his intake, exhaust manifolds, mounts, accessories, and front dress. The timing cover ,the block and the heads will be the same if his truck has a Romeo built 4.6L in it. If he's got a Windsor 4.6L in it,it's still not a bad swap, and most everything will swap right over off of the Windsor engine.

Did you say you used to rebuild the 4.6 windsor?
I am going to rebuild mine soon and was wondering if you ran into any specific issues with them.
Is there anything to watch out for?
Anything unusual?
