Cam timing 0 or advanced?

i hear that straight up (0) on timing chain is best...why not advance? im referring to the cloyes double roller 3 position chain...

Set it to "0". The advanced position is only really for cams that were ground wrong or an engine that won't degree out correctly because of some mis-machined part.

so what does that exactly mean...or how does it work?? so it wont hurt to advance it? are there any performance gains from advancing?

Advancing a cam can give it more low end power, but who knows how much is too much without degreeing it in and a lot of trial and error. It would be like taking a shot in the dark.
