Bronco Project Finally Getting Started

I've decided to take the 55,500 mile EFI460&E4OD tranny out of my 1994 F-250HD 4x4 pickup, instead of selling it,then buying another engine&transmission. The distributor gear needs to be replaced, and I have to change the oil,'cause it's been sitting, but other than that,it should be good to go.I still have the O.E.M. manifolds in the garage, but I might get some 429/460 Bronco swap headers, instead.I don't think(although I'll find out...)the Borla headers will fit in the Bronco chassis. The E4OD isn't as bad as once though....might just be a bad T.P.S.,so that's a good thing. The 460 still wears a Vortech,so it'll be under a Bronco's hood, now.I'm only running 6psi of boost,so,for now, that should be enough.Learning from a past(bad) experience,I'm thinking on adding a 7 quart oil pan.It already has a Melling high volume pump in it.The camshaft will not be changed. It has a Crane 260-272 RV-type cam in it,currently(which works REALLY nice with the blower,I might add...)I'll just take everything I need from the pickup&use it in the Bronco. My 2 1/4" dual exhaust I'm thinking about upgrading to 2 1/2",or 3"(pickup has 3" duals).I 'll hopfully get the engine&tranny pulled out,and talk to the shop owner by early June.I'm(hoping)to have it all done by late July.

Let us know how all this goes. This is something I am planning on doing to my Bronco also. What year is your Bronco? The only think I am thinking of doing differently is getting a AOD tranny from Art Carr. Good Luck and hope it all goes easy(I know nothing with vehicles ever goes easy),

My Bronco is a 1990 XLT.Currently,it has the EFI302&AOD in it.I don't think the AOD will bolt up behind a 385-series big-block.I thought about a C-6,but since my pickup has the E4OD,with its overdrive,I'll be using it,instead.I know things never go according to plan, but I'm hoping all goes well.I think the first time I mash the accelerator pedal to the floor, and get pushed into the seatback,I'll realize it was worth it.I've always wanted a EFI7.5L Bronco,so I figured why not?

I don't know from experience but, there is a tech article on FTE home page under site news titled 'Complete overdrive conversion for 78-79 Bronco" it is an interesting article. It says all you need is an adapter plate. I did talk to Art Carr Trannys and they say their trannys can handle up to 800 hp. Would like to talk to someone who has done this to see what else they had to do. Again Good Luck and keep the posts coming,
