how do I fix it? where are the wires? Do I need to disconnect the hadle? (OD was fine last year.) the transmission seems to work perfectly and was done a flush job not long ago. planning to tow my 23' trailer next month and I am a bit worry without OD.
If the problem is broken wires at the base of the shifter you need to remove the shift lever.
You access it by removing the covers on the top and bottom of the steering column.
OD enabled is the normal mode of operation. When the button on the end of the shift lever is pressed, it disables OD (and turns on the TCIL) and does not allow the tranny to upshift out of 3rd gear.
Turning OD off by pressing the button is usually done to prevent excessive TC slip, excessive temperatures, and excessive gear hunting while towing.
