I'm considering buying a Bronco and am looking at a '92 XLT with a 5.0 and 5 sp. I looked underneath it and noticed quite a bit of rust - I'm assuming that this indicates that the truck has been offroad or at the very least in a lot of water quite a bit. I also assume that I should probably stay away from something like this. I'm new to this and any help would be appreciated!
I'm considering the same, and with a little research have a list of stuff to be concerned about when buying a used Bronco: Look for----
Rust - over wheel wells, bottom of tail gate & doors
Rear window - functionality
Rear end - noise
Tranny Auto - see alot of rebuilds
Drive shaft - they rust and fall off
Gas tank - gets rust holes
lots of starters replaced
302 engine - see a lot of rebuilds
As far as frame rust, depends how severe and if it is from the NE or used on the beach.
It could have also been involved in a flood, and have flood damage. If you are seriously considering buying this '92 Bronco,it might be worth the money to run a Carfax history report on it.
