I bought new, complete cylinders for the front for my '49 F-1 paneltruck from NAPA for $11 and the rears for $16-18, I don't know why the back were more, suppose they're a little larger. They worked out about the same as the eBay cylinders, probably less with the shipping. I was able to get them from my local NAPA so if I have problem I can go back and rattle their cage.
JobLot has a brand new kit for the larger trucks consisting of all four wheel cylinders, master cylinder and the three hoses for $250.

I'll have to look for those again, didn't see them in the catalog, I assume those include F3's? That is a hellova deal.
I found that deal in the autumn section, does anyone know if the kit that says it fits '39-'50 3/4 tons will fit my early build '51 F3. I assume it says to '50 since they changed the E brakes mid year and the rear drums got smaller. Since mine are bigger I assume the '39-'50 will work.

Has anyone purchased the cheap wheel cylinders for effies on ebay? (Four for $48.50). I need em but I am sceptical they might be junk. Thanks.
I purchased a front pair 3 years ago so I could drive the truck 30 miles home. I then decided to go with Disc on the front. If your truck uses the same size as a 51F1 front, and you want them PM me you pay shipping and they are yours.

Cheap+Brakes= Bad things.
If you can't afford good quality Basic Safety items for your vehicle please PM me with your location. I'll mark it on my Don't Go There Map.
The brake kit that Job Lot sells, at least the one I mentioned, is for the larger trucks, F-4 through F-6. I would assume they might have the same kind of deal for the smaller trucks. I talked to a guy at Job Lot last summer, if I remember correctly, he told me that the big truck package is actually for 1948-50 and '52, '51 had a different wheel cylinder in the front, one is something like 1 3/8" and the is 1 1/4", not sure. He said you can't find a rebuild kit for the '51 but you can use the complete front cylinders from the other years. I could be off on the year a little but it doesn't really matter.
As far as the F-2, all four wheel cylinders are the same as the F-1 rears except they criss-cross; left front is the same as right rear and right front is the same as left rear.

This section in the paper flyer Says its for everything from 1/2 ton to 1.5 ton trucks, it is a list of about 4 different kits. I assumed since the early '51s have the larger rear drums like the previous years that a '50 kit would work. I sent an email to them and if I get time I will call and see if they have any ideas, it is kind of a PITA to tear into those brakes to measure stuff but I may have to.
I was just wondering if anyone ever bought the brake hoses from another eBayer from Argentina, his eBay name is luchonotahis . He sells a lot of brake parts for vintage vehicles. He also sells, on a regular basis, a set of three brake hoses for '48-52 trucks, both for the F-1s and for F-2 through F-6 for around $25, plus $10 shipping. He has a very good feedback rating, 99.8%. Currently he has a set of rear wheel cylinder kits for $10, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=200092165025
