I'm only poking fun at Mr. G ..... sorry if it offended you. I actually like him ..... but sometimes he goes off the deep end in his speeches (tirades). The photo depicts him ranting about how Excursion owners are ruining mother Earth.

I think any type of 08 conversion is going to require an entire front clip. And then as Monsta stated, a bunch of fab work. It will be more than a couple of G's, that's for sure. Heck getting the sheet metal will be a trick.

I'm sure someone will do it eventually.

I'm curious, what makes you think that? I looked at one Friday and the front looks identical. It looks like the parts will bolt right up without issue.

The front end is a lot lower buy hey...if you looked at one and you think it'll work don't let US stop you! I'd like to see an Excursion with an 08 front clip! Especially with the side vents!

If you did do the 08 front end conv, would you have to use the fenders? Thatd make it easy to use those vents.

The fenders would need to be used, yes.

I'm not trying to pick a fight or anything. I just posed an idea and it seems a lot of people *think* it won't work and a couple *know* it won't work but the only person that's actually looked at doing it (that I'm aware of) says it looks like it will work fine.

It just frustrates me when people answer questions they aren't 100% sure of the answer on. For years people in the SHO community said you couldn't put the ATX 3.2 engine with the 5 speed transmission and now that's one of the most popular swaps. I've been in the performance industry for awhile and it would shock you guys how many obvious things don't get done for such a long time because all the internet experts said it couldn't happen.

I prefer someone get on and say that they don't know rather than say "No it won't work" when looking at the truck first hand says yes, it will work.

Anyone feel my pain?

Not to poop on your parade, but whenever there's a generation change in a model, it's very difficult to move body parts across them.

discalimer: I haven't seen an 08 up close and I dont need to to make this statement.

Put in most simplest terms:
If you agree that the fenders need to be swapped to accomodate the front end and hood, then you better look into swapping doors so they look ok next to those fenders.

I know from seeing them on the road that the door/fender seam IS different. That should be enough reason to scare anyone other than a body man away.

Personally, would love to see it, but for me the 05 grill still looks better!

I have the standard rusty lower doors anyhow. Those were going to be replaced but the seam does present an interesting dilemma as it will have to carry from the front of the truck to the rear. I'll have to look at that tonight.

The front of the frame has been stepped down to mount the bumper lower. You would heve to modify the front of your frame like guys do to lowrider trucks when they do a body drop.

oh and he is an environmental tree hugging ****.

Well ..... what's it gonna take for someone to take the plunge? Surely there's an otherwise good Excursion with a bent up front end that's the perfect candidate. The 08 SD Lariat wheels would look right at home too.

I personally believe this would be a gorgeous transformation.

The mirrors look to be the easiest part as the mounting is identical. I presume the pinout will be close for the controls as well. I plan on upgrading to the 08' door panels as well.

Yesterday i was at autozone and i was looking at a deisel magizine. It was a 6 door F-650. Everyone knows that it has the superduty doors. Well anyways the 6 door F-650 had 08 mirriors on it. Mike i just wanted you to know that someone has already put 08 mirriors on a 05 and down superduty door. It can be done.
